Early bird catches the worm! We left the driveway at 6:07 am to start our longest trek of the journey, 9 ½ hours to Sunny Tulsa, Oklahoma. Apparently home of one of the worst racial massacres this country has ever seen, and not very sunny so I don’t foresee us doing any sight seeing, just a soft place to rest our heads. The girls are faring well although, we had a fight within the first two minutes of the trip. Now, they seem to have tired themselves out and settled for solo iPad movies and lots of Starbucks iced peach green tea lemonade, i.e. sugar bombs with a little side of caffeine.
Middle America is pretty much that, in the middle. Sandwiched between two greater than sections, specifically the Coasts. Pretty much like all middle children, not particularly memorable, rather ordinary, flat in both personality and landscape. But, if you look hard enough beauty can be found anywhere. Even from a place called Uranus, which promises the best fudge you’ve ever had…from Uranus.
Our RV park in Tulsa was VERY close to the airport, and if you have ever looked at real estate around the airport you know it ain’t very perty. My adoring husband described it as “not high end”, but our traveling palace fared very well despite the lingering smell of feces and despair. We ate an Italian feast of penne bolognese, salad and garlic bread and I drank a very very tasty 2015 Barolo.
We were in bed by 7:15pm. Good night Tulsa!
