As we settled in for the longest stay of our journey, I feel overwhelmingly blessed to be with my parents this holiday season. As the year winds down, the gift of time with family has been the shining light through the darkness. To sit down each night with our now family of 6 to discuss our days and to laugh over a good meal is just like heaven to me. My parents share my love of all things food, wine, and fitness so I feel right at home when I am here; waking up each morning with the sun rising and a view of the ocean doesn’t hurt either.
Our days here are consisting of hot cocoa, amazing matching pajama sets, daily trips to the beach, and making cookies for Santa, of course! Having this time with family is something you could never put a price on.
I often wonder why we end up where we do geographically. I was born in Indiana, and now I am raising a family there. Despite the terrible weather, the gray skies, and the activity, Indiana is home at least for now. It is nice to be able to get out and explore the beauty of our country and take in the many landscapes it has to offer. Maybe someday I will call somewhere else home, but for now I am a Hoosier born and raised.
I don’t want to make any assumptions as to how 2021 will turn out, but I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday.
I look forward to taking you with us on our journey home.
