Welcome back to the Zen(ish) Mommy Podcast! Now that the world has opened back up, maybe you have been bitten by the travel bug once again. As moms, the task of travel planning often falls to us. Today’s guest, Henley Vazquez will be sharing how to plan the best family vacations and sharing her genius tips on how to start a side hustle.
There are so many benefits to outsourcing your travel plans to experts, and the best part is, it’s at absolutely no cost for you to use this resource! When you use Booking.com you are not going to get the opinion of someone who has traveled there. You’re not going to have a vacation package designed to fit all your needs and wants. By using a travel agency, you’re getting a curated vacation package just for you & your family. Often times, the travel agent will help you get a better value for your money while the hotel pays the agent. This is one the core reasons why working with an agent beats renting a vacation property from the owner. Additionally, in the world of COVID19 we are not always confident in the current COVID procedures when traveling. They can change last minute, or even during your vacation! When you use a travel agent, they do all that research for you and provide you with real time updates when necessary.
“Booking.com is not going to help you when borders close, or when that hotel doesn’t want to give you a refund. There’s no religion in Booking.com and that’s what makes it a company that investors love, but it’s what makes us as humans not like it, because they’re not there to help you.”

If you ever traveled prior to having children, and post children – there is a solid chance that you understand the chaos that one can endure on travel days. And when we are talking about family vacations, this is something to take into account. When would be the best time to fly? Do we need the stroller for the layover? What gear will we need upon arriving? Does the hotel offer a pack n play? Is the car seat approved internationally? As mother’s, we think of these things because we have delt with them before.
Henley shares that leading with compassion for other parents and having a diverse voice is important when you are planning family vacations. If you have the ability to do those two things, chances are you would make a great travel agent. This is a fulfilling job that you can work part-time. Seeing people who have always wanted to have an experience finally get to have it, is unmatched!
