It’s easy to forget to implement an emotional check-in with yourself. The good news is that getting started is easier than you may think.
You will learn how to tap into what you are feeling by assessing the sensations in your body. This technique also helps you to drop out of the business of the mind and become more mindful in the day-to-day life. Listeners will hear how cultivating emotional awareness can help us to catch our moments of overwhelm before they escalate!
“It’s okay not to be fine, to be stressed, to be overwhelmed. When we do these little emotional check-ins, we’re able to catch these moments of overwhelm before we get to the point where we are screaming at our children and lying in a bathtub with no water.”

The first step is to start feeling your body. Rub your fingers together and notice the sensations within your body. Acknowledge which emotions come in once you have assessed where your body is at. Remember, it’s okay to be stressed and to feel overwhelmed. These emotional check-ins allow us to catch our overwhelming moments before they get too big.
I recommend checking in with your body regularly. I personally like to start my day out this way and assessing where my body is at. For more tools on how to start your day off in a Zen, check out last week’s episode, Positive Mindset Tips.
