If you’ve been around for the last couple weeks, here at The Zen(ish) Mommy podcast we are talking about a wide variety of healing modalities. Such as, Mushrooms & Micro Dosing and digging into Healing Generational Trauma. Many are beginning to ditch prescription medicine and become more open to alternative methods. Ayahuasca healing promises to send its users on a life-affirming trip to connect with their soul and cleanse them from deep rooted trauma. So, let’s dig into what all the hype is about with our amazing guest, Tracy Fields who is a war veteran and very experienced in ayahuasca healing.
After being diagnosed with PTSD, Tracy heard about ayahuasca from a few friends. Up to this point, he had ample experience in talk therapy, hypnosis, reiki healing and EMDR. Tracy speaks more on this within our conversation and touches on what those other coping mechanisms looked like, which I am sure we can all relate to in some capacity.
One point that Tracy emphasizes on is that Anything is Possible — nothing is off the table.
“You can work out the body, you can work out the mind but, sometimes, where we lack is that we don’t work out the spirit and the soul.”

The ceremonial portion of the experience entails sitting in complete silence. You then lie on your mat and do very little before it comes on.
Being completely in tune with your feelings is what is most important. Through the spiritual journey, the energy that is not serving oneself is then released. The spiritual journey doesn’t end when the ceremony ends. Lessons appear in daily life well after the ayahuasca experience.
This will be a case-by- case but there are a few key points that are universal for anyone about to participate in a ceremony.
A good practitioner sets the conditions for success during an ayahuasca ceremony. Tracy prepared for his first ayahuasca ceremony through a plant-based diet, and abstaining from sex, medication and alcohol.
“Any good practitioner will work to set the conditions for success; it’s safe, it’s comfortable, you’ll have what you need but, more importantly, you have the space available to work.”
